In a stunning turn of events, the Bellew-Haye rematch has lost a great deal of steam. Tony Bellew posted a message on Instagram confirming that his team and Andre Ward’s people are in serious talks.
Bellew hints that the fight could happen as early as by the end of this year.
“The talks have begun and we could have a massive fight before the end of the year! Good fighter but it’s simple! I’ll end that winning streak of his,” wrote ‘The Bomber’.
Ward recently won his rematch against Sergey Kovalev and solidified his position as arguably the pound for pound number one boxer in the world. Meanwhile, The Liverpudlian has not fought since March when he stopped David Haye in the heated bout.
Bellew has stated that there’s still ‘unfinished business’ with Haye but their rematch will be put on hold if a fight against Ward comes to fruition.
