Following the cancellation of Liam Smith’s rematch against Chris Eubank Jr, Tony Bellew has sent a message to Eubank, boasting of his accomplishments that he says the 33-year-old will never achieve.
Eubank had some choice words for Bellew during the press conference for the first fight with Smith, labelling the former cruiserweight world champion as ‘the biggest a***hole in Liverpool’.
However, it was ‘The Bomber’ who had the last laugh as his fellow scouser, Smith, became the first man to knock Eubank out, much to the satisfaction of Bellew.
After hearing about the cancellation of Smith’s rematch with Eubank, Bellew shared his disappointment in an interview with iFL TV, admitting that he was looking forward to a repeat result.
“That’s a shame because Liam would have done a repeat, all day. Liam is just better than him, too good for him and it’s probably taken him a while to realise that. That is the biggest mouth in Liverpool, letting you know that you got absolutely dealt with (winks).”
Bellew went on to brag of his achievements in the sport, gloating that Eubank could only ‘dream’ of accomplishing the what he’s done.
“He [Eubank] thought that I was the biggest arsehole in Liverpool, correct, I am by far the biggest, and the fattest one too.
But, don’t worry, I’ve done something that you could only dream of doing, son, and that is win a world title, and a British, Commonwealth and European [title] to go with that, as well. So, keep dreaming kid, all the very best.”
Savannah Marshall against Franchon Crews-Dezurn for the undisputed super-middleweight title will now headline the July 1 card in Manchester.
Whether the rematch gets a new date remains to be seen, with Eddie Hearn making no secret of the fact that now is the time to make the Eubank-Conor Benn fight.
