Turki Alalshikh fuels Terence Crawford comeback talk: “Maybe in 2027”

One of the most shocking moments the boxing world witnessed last year was when Terence Crawford announced his retirement from the sport, a move no one was expecting. Since then, many fans have speculated and believe that one day he will return.

Recently, Turki Alalshikh has once again fuelled speculation around Crawford after sharing a ringside photo with the retired champion during a major fight night in Japan.

The image, posted on Alalshikh X’s account, showed the pair together while attending the biggest boxing match in Japanese history, Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani at Tokyo Dome in Japan.

Notably, Alalshikh added a playful but pointed caption, hinting at a potential return timeline and keeping the conversation around Crawford’s comeback alive. He wrote, “With the legend Terence Crawford … Maybe in 2027 if he waste his money.”

Despite being away from the ring, Crawford has been making headlines. Earlier, Crawford found himself in the spotlight after responding to renewed criticism surrounding a potential fight with Jaron Ennis.

The discussion picked up momentum when past comments from Ennis resurfaced, where he claimed he would have stopped Crawford if they had fought during their time at welterweight.

In response, Crawford dismissed the idea and directly addressed fans questioning his legacy.

“He can’t even tie my shoes,” Crawford wrote.

Alalshikh urges Crawford to end retirement for Canelo Alvarez rematch

As he was firing verbal jabs at Ennis in one X post, Crawford used the moment to highlight his achievements across multiple divisions.

“What’s better than being undisputed? Being undisputed two times… being undisputed three times in three different weights.”

Through that response, he reinforced his résumé and shifted the focus back to his accomplishments.

Shortly after Crawford’s response gained traction, Alalshikh entered the conversation and suggested a possible return scenario.

“We want the rematch… maybe it is a chance to be 4,” he wrote, hinting at another historic achievement.

Now, Alalshikh’s latest post from Japan has added another layer to that narrative. By sharing a ringside moment with Crawford, he has kept the comeback discussion firmly in the spotlight.

Crawford officially retired late last year following his unanimous decision victory over Canelo Alvarez. He closed his career with a perfect 42-0 record, a milestone that stunned the boxing world.

Despite multiple lucrative offers to return, he has remained firm in his decision to step away from the sport.

At the same time, Alvarez has yet to return to action since that loss, while Ennis continues his rise and prepares to face Xander Zayas on June 27 in Brooklyn.

Even so, Crawford’s presence alongside Alalshikh at a high-profile event has reignited conversations about what could come next.

While no official plans have been announced, the optics alone have captured attention across the boxing world.

For now, Crawford remains retired. However, with influential figures continuing to engage with him publicly, the possibility of a return refuses to fade quietly.
