The much rumoured fight between Tyson Fury and Shannon Briggs is not happening – at least not yet.
Fury confirmed in a social media post that they have had talks and he even sent the American a contract but as of now the two won’t fight in April as previously rumoured. But that doesn’t mean he’s declining the challenge.

“I gave him a contract before. He will not be my comeback fight but I’m going to sign him up anyway for whenever I am ready,” confirmed Fury.
He then continued:
“I’m gonna sign up Antonio Tarver too. Give this old a** b*tches something to train for because they need little love too. Tarver, Briggs if you are watching I’ll send you some contracts but don’t expect to be my comeback fights,” added Fury.
Sure enough, Briggs has already responded to Fury’s post online.
“Tell your fans that you [are] scared of me and I’ll leave you alone. I promise,” wrote Briggs.
‘The Cannon’ has taken aim at almost every known face in British boxing including Frank Warren, David Haye, Fury and, of course, Eddie Hearn who recently commented on Fury-Briggs and the Instagram posts.
“I went through them the other day because I didn’t know and I’m on a lot of them!” commented Hearn to Boxing Social.
When asked about Fury-Briggs, the promoter did not waste any breath explaining why the fight is not happening.
“He [Briggs] just prices himself out of every fight. He thinks he’s worth seven figures in fights but we wants to fight Tyson Fury, Tyson Fury ain’t gonna fight Shannon Briggs in the short term. Shannon Briggs is a great character, he can punch a bit but he’s very old,” explained the promoter.
