Few in the boxing world are predicting the upcoming clash between Tyson Fury and former UFC star Francis Ngannou to be particularly completive.
However, one of the few exceptions to that rule appears to be ‘The Gypsy King’s father John, who claims he is concerned for his sons health in the bout which will take place on October 28th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In a recent interview with SecondsOut, ‘Big John’ described Ngannou as a “dangerous dude” and and stated that he was “nervous” about WBC world champion Tyson stepping into the ring with him.
“He [Ngannou] is a dangerous dude. He’s 6’6 or 6’7, 20 odd stone of raw muscle and he’s got a bit of speed as well.”
“He’s got speed, power and strength – we’re set for an action packed night. It’s making me nervous now just thinking about it, because he’s my son and I don’t want to see him get hurt. And if he gets in the way of the uppercut, we’ll have to sew his head back on.”
Though Ngannou has a reputation as one of the hardest hitters in MMA, he is expected to be leagues below Fury in terms of skill and ring IQ and few believe it is likely he will be able to land clean on the Brit
The crossover clash has received a mixed reception at best from boxing fans, who are growing tired with Fury’s either inability or unwillingness to agree terms for an undisputed heavyweight world title fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
