Tyson Fury has answered who he felt hit harder during his time spent in the ring with both Deontay Wilder and Francis Ngannou.
The WBC and lineal heavyweight king fought Wilder three times in an epic trilogy that involved a draw in the first fight, and two stoppage wins for Fury in the second two matches.
They came at a time when the American was one of the most feared punchers on the planet, he had knocked out everybody he had faced and few came close to challenging him.
That was until Fury managed to get on top and dominate him in their second and third fights. Wilder has since lost on points in his comeback fight against Joseph Parker.
Fury also braved the challenge of Francis Ngannou, a former UFC heavyweight champion who has recorded the hardest punch in the world and was known as The Baddest Man on the Planet.
In their fight in October 2023, Ngannou managed to land clean on Fury and put him down on the canvas in round three though couldn’t capitalise and lost on points after 10, and was then knocked out cold when he fought Anthony Joshua earlier in March.
Speaking to The Stomping Ground, he has now been asked who hit harder.
“Deontay, By far. Francis Ngannou is a big puncher but I wasn’t really troubled by any of his punches. It wasn’t like dynamite and every time he hit me I was wobbled or anything like that.
“Just one punch round the back of the head. So Wilder is still the hardest puncher I have ever been hit by, by a mile.”
Fury’s focus now remains on the undisputed fight with Oleksandr Usyk on May 18, though promoter Eddie Hearn is already talking up a fight with Anthony Joshua.
