Tyson Fury’s polarising exhibition bout with former UFC world champion is Francis Ngannou is just a month away, and soon both men will begin to wind down their training camps before making tracks to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
A side by side comparison of the pair being put through their paces has been posted to YouTube this week, and the difference in hand speed is as pronounced as most expected.
In the compilation put together by MMA Connect, fans say that long boxer Fury looks to be leagues ahead of ‘The Predator’ in terms of speed, however the latter does appear to carry significant power – judging by the sound of the pads, anyway.
The crossover clash has received a mixed reception at best from boxing fans, who are growing tired with Fury’s either inability or unwillingness to agree terms for an undisputed heavyweight world title fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
‘The Gypsy King’ goes into the contest as a huge betting favourite, and most in the boxing world believe he will be able to bring affairs to a close whenever he so chooses.
That said, Ngannou does have a reputation as the hardest puncher in MMA and, as the old adage goes, anything can happen in heavyweight boxing.
However, it would go down as perhaps the biggest upset in the history of the blue ribbon division if he was able to pull off the unthinkable and defeat Fury – the lineal champion – on his professional boxing debut.
Though the Brit’s team claim he is not overlooking Ngannou, early talks are reportedly underway about reviving an undisputed showdown with Usyk for early 2024.
