In a resurfaced clip on the Jonathan Ross Show, Tyson Fury named upcoming opponent, Derek Chisora as his favourite boxer.
The WBC Heavyweight Champion of the World was joined on the show by Maya Jama and Sylvester Stallone in December of 2020, and told Ross that Chisora is sits atop his list of favourite fellow fighters.
“I think Derek Chisora is my favourite fellow boxer, I really do get on with Derek. Top guy, top athlete, top fighter. He’s been such a veteran of the sport.”
Fury clearly had respect for the 38-year-old, who has been in and around the best of the heavyweight division for over a decade but has never won a world title.
Now, two years down the line, Chisora will get a second chance to achieve top honours, but will have to get past Fury to do so.
Since this was aired there has been rumours of animosity between the two Brits after a supposed fall out when ‘Del Boy’ predicted that Dillian Whyte would knock Fury out back in April.
More recently, there was a rather odd press conference ahead of their December fight, where Chisora phoned up Eddie Hearn and blamed Fury for the collapse of his much-anticipated fight with Anthony Joshua.
This has left fans guessing whether the fighters are friends, enemies, somewhere in between, or if they are simply trying to sell a fight.
Regardless, Fury and Chisora meet in the ring on December 3rd with Fury’s WBC title on the line. The fight will take place at Tottenham Hotspur stadium with tickets still available and will also be available to watch on BT Sport Box Office.
