Tyson Fury is set to receive a ‘premium offer’ from Saudi Arabia for the undisputed clash against Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury and Usyk had looked nailed on to fight earlier in the year when the Ukrainian publicly accepted a 30% purse split. But, just as fans were getting their hopes up, Usyk’s team ended all negotiations believing they were never going to get a fair deal.
Both sides blamed the other for the fight falling apart, with Usyk’s promoter saying Fury’s demands were never ending, and ‘The Gypsy King’s team claiming Usyk just wanted a bigger payday in the Middle East.
However, now the fight could be back on, with Amer Abdallah of Skill Challenge Entertainment confirming to TalkSPORT that an offer will ‘soon’ be sent to Fury’s team, but there will be no negotiation on the price.
“Tyson Fury wants to fight. If he can land something in September or October and he can clear himself for December then we would love to make that offer and would love to have that discussion.
Alex [Usyk’s promoter] is accurate, the offer will be coming soon and it’ll be a premium offer, it’ll be based his worth and much more, it’ll be a premium price, we’d never insult anybody with an offer. When Prince Khalid makes an offer they’re big offers and he has no problems doing that.
The offer will be there but it won’t be a negotiation, it’ll be ‘here’s a great premium price, we would love to do the fight and it’s on the table’.
I would never insult anybody by saying ‘here’s the offer, take it or leave it!’. That’s not how we do business, the way it would be presented would be, ‘this is a premium price, we would to have it, but this is the price’. So is there going to be a negotiation on the price? The answer is no.”
In the meantime Usyk is scheduled to face his WBA mandatory opponent, Daniel Dubois, while Fury is still searching for a September dance partner.
