WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, has given his thoughts on Tommy’s recent victory over YouTuber-turned-boxer, Jake Paul.
Tommy Fury put an end to Paul’s unbeaten run in the sport, but may not have put an end to their transatlantic rivalry.
Despite dominating for large proportions of the fight, Fury had a point deducted and was knocked down in the final round, leading to an uncomfortable wait for the official scorecards.
Thankfully for the Fury family, two of the judges concluded that the 23-year-old had done enough and awarded the Brit with by far his biggest win to date.
Speaking to ES News, ‘The Gypsy King’ summarised the fight and his half-brother’s performance, as well as admitting that he would like to see a rematch between the pair.
“I thought it was a fantastic fight, very entertaining, I was very happy with it.
I thought Tommy won 90% of the fight, and it was what it was, he got the victory, and he is going home to his family, he’s done really well.
I would like to see a rematch.”
It seems that Tyson will get his wish and that his brother and the ‘Problem Child’ will meet in the ring once again, after the latter announced his intentions to activate the rematch clause.
Not everyone thinks that would be a good idea for the American, with Eddie Hearn, promoter of Matchroom boxing, suggesting he would be better served by avoiding all professional boxers and instead face KSI in a ‘massive’ fight.
