Tyson Fury has branded his main heavyweight rival, Oleksandr Usyk, a coward and a cheat.
The reaction from the WBC Champion was prompted by the controversy surrounding Usyk – who holds the WBA, IBF and WBO belts – and his fifth round against Daniel Dubois.
25-year-old Dubois dropped and hurt the Ukrainian champion, but the referee immediately ruled it a low blow and allowed over three minutes recovery time.
Speaking to media at the press conference for his bout with MMA fighter Francis Ngannou, Fury said that it was definitely a legal shot.
“I thought he was a little s**tbag. He cheated. Supposed to be this big god-fearing man, rolling up and down with a low blow and it hit him on the beltline. Come on. Don’t be a little s**thouse coward. Stand up to it.
What do I know? I’m a world heavyweight champion, been in boxing for fifteen years as a pro. I’ve won upto 22 belts. What do I know? That wasn’t a low blow. I know that. And one’s a little s**thouse pussy. I know that too. You lost man. You got beat by Dubois man. You’re s**t. You’re pants.”
Usyk’s side believe there is ‘zero chance’ this happens, and stand by their view that the shot was illegal.
As things stand, Usyk will move forward and attempt to make an undisputed bout with Fury, but the Brit doesn’t seem overly concerned with that idea for now.
