Tyson Fury recently labeled one heavyweight prospect as the ‘heir to his throne’ – but the man himself claims he’s already ‘burned out’ from the sport.
The current WBC champion was praising American knockout artist, Jared Anderson, having previously drafted in the heavyweight as a sparring partner.
“Jared’s the man. This is the future champ right here. I said it three years ago, I stand by my words, this is the heir to the throne guys – you better believe it.”
Anderson, who boasts a 100% record from his first 16 fights with 15 coming inside the distance, told Fight Hub TV that he doesn’t envisage being in the sport too much longer and is already ‘burned out’.
“I’ve been doing this since I was eight-years-old, I’m burned out.
If you don’t use it, you lose it. I’ve took a break from things before and coming back is never the same. I know that if I take too long of a time off, and I’ve noticed that also in my career so far, the times that I did take longer off, when I come back I am not the same.
Now, I just stay in the gym. If I stay in the gym for two or three more years by the time that I want retire I will be perfectly fine with it.”
The highly rated power puncher has more pressing issues on his hands at the moment, having been arrested earlier this month. ESPN reported that ‘Big Baby’ was taken into custody on two charges, ‘improperly handling firearms in a vehicle whilst knowingly under the influence and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs’.
He reportedly spent eight hours in jail before being released. Anderson has yet to publicity comment on the incident.
