This past weekend, Tony Bellew caused quite a stir when he called out Tyson Fury and referred to him as ‘Stavros Flatley’ on Soccer AM.
Furthermore, Bellew seemed to insinuate he is looking forward to a clash against Fury next year.
While on the show, Bellew shared, ‘I’ve got a massive interest in fighting ‘Stavros Flatley’ lookalike Tyson Fury to be honest.
‘Listen he’s given me a hell of a lot of stick, as good as he is. But Stavros if you’re out there, let’s get it going;” Bellew added.
Bellew also made it readily apparent, he has no fear of the biggest fighters in the heavyweight division.
‘Everybody says I’m scared of big heavyweights, well they don’t come any bigger than Stavros Flatley so listen I’m game to do it when you are.’

Bellew actually made those comments in response to Tyson Fury’s call out which occurred earlier in the week. The callout happened the day David Haye pulled out of his hotly-anticipated rematch with Tony Bellew.
“He says he’s not frightened of big guys and he wants to fight the biggest of them all. I don’t know how realistic he is with his comments on Soccer AM but that’s another lucrative fight for both fighters and we are in this to make a living and take punches to the face, which would be a good fight for me,” Fury told Talk Sport.

Tyson Fury also suggested that Tony’s speed advantages could make for a problematic fight.
“Tony is a quick fighter and with him being a cruiserweight/light heavyweight he will have the speed and movement over me, which could counteract my size, and he also has quite a lot of power. I’ve seen him knock quite a few people out.
However, he was quick to add that it is a fight he wants; “Maybe it’s a difficult fight for me, but that’s a fight I would take.”
