Chris Eubank Sr may have unintentionally caused a bit of friction between him and former World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
The British boxing legend was a guest on talkSPORT and host Alan Brazil wanted to get Eubank’s take on the heavyweight division and Fury but the former WBO World super middleweight champion initially declined to comment.
“My mother taught me ‘if you can’t say anything good, then there is nothing to say.'”
But Brazil wanted a reaction and he eventually got one from Eubank.
“Tyson Fury, at one time, was learning to box.
“He had a fight, he won that fight and then he imploded.
“He only got to apprenticeship position, as far as I was concerned, and then he stopped learning.
“Everyone is talking about a fighter who speaks very well in terms of getting people’s attention, but he didn’t learn to fight.”
Fury didn’t waste time to respond.

“Do you know what I’ve got to say to you Chris? A lot of people would look up to you and whatever, and you did achieve some great things, but to try and downplay my achievements when I’ve dedicated my whole life to something, and to try and say bad things, it’s just not called for because the truth of the matter is you only won one belt in your division, I won five in mine – four heavyweight championships of the world, and a Ring magazine belt and Fighter of the Year,” said Fury.
One could expect a vicious backlash from ‘The Gypsy King’ but Fury stayed calm and mild mannered during his response.
“So when someone dedicates their full life to doing something, and then to try to get downplayed for it by somebody who didn’t achieve half as much, that’s very disrespectful and very distasteful. But good luck in your life and your career.”
Recently Fury has been calling out Tony Bellew after David Haye pulled out from the December 17th fight. Unlike with Eubank, Fury definitely has not minced any words with ‘The Bomber’.

“That could possibly be the toughest fight out there for a return fight after a two and half year layoff. But it is a fight I would be interested in. Because if I beat Tony Bellew, not only does it give me a victory over the great David Haye, it also gives me the opportunity to take money out of “the great David Haye’s” pocket like the great David Haye did to me.
“It would be a little bit of payback, and therefore he wouldn’t get his retirement cheque. Therefore he would have to go and do something else and that would make me very happy. I would risk losing a fight to get vengeance on the great fighter David Haye, who is always injured,” commented Fury according to ESPN.
Bellew has accepted Fury’s challenge but there is still the issue of putting the actual fight together which at this point is a long shot, especially since Fury is still not a licensed boxer.
