Sugarhill Steward has checked in at Morecambe, seemingly confirming that he’s here to help local boy Tyson Fury get ready for another heavyweight battle.
The pair have become a regular dynamic duo since partnering up before Fury’s second meeting with Deontay Wilder. Fury fought to a draw in the first fight, with many fans and pundits believing he had done enough to take the victory. The controversial decision perhaps played a part in the British fighter’s move to Steward – the trainer’s Kronk style has been known to help people get stoppage victories and take it out of the judges’ hands.
Sure enough, Fury finished Wilder inside the distance in their rematch, winning the WBC World Heavyweight title in the process. In their trilogy fight, he cemented his status as a big puncher with another knockout, and went three for three when he dropped Dillian Whyte in April of this year.
It seems that his link up with Sugarhill is working, and it’s no surprise to find out that the two are working together for the upcoming Derek Chisora fight.
Steward posted a picture on his Instagram of the sea shore in the English town captioned ‘Back home again’ and tagging Tyson Fury. Whilst not an out and out confirmation, it’s hard to believe that he’s just there for the fish and chips – however good they might be.
It’s safe to assume that Steward will be in the gym with Fury from tomorrow as they prepare for the December 3 fight with Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It will be the third time that ‘The Gypsy King’ faces ‘Del Boy’, having beat him in both 2011 and 2014. Despite some complaints about the matchmaking, the event moved 50,000 tickets on the first day of sale and is generally considered a keep busy fight before Fury pursues an undisputed fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
With Steward’s presence, it can be assumed the champion is going for the knockout once again.
