Mike Tyson has sent out a warning to Roy Jones Jr. ahead of their exhibition bout on November 28th, vowing to ‘disable’ his opponent when the two men collide in Los Angeles.
The heavyweight legend, 54, has seen his star power soar throughout 2020, with a series of viral training videos leading to a considerable demand for his ring return.
With his comeback less than four weeks away, ‘Iron’ Mike is relaxed and eagerly awaiting his opportunity to put on a show for fans once again, stating that he is more ‘evolved’ now than in his heyday.
“My mindset is totally bliss. This is something I’ve done all my life since I was 13 years old.” said Tyson during the fight’s official opening press conference.
“I’m more evolved now than I’ve ever been. My objective is to go in there with the best intentions of my life and to disable my opponent, and that’s just what it is.”
With Tyson’s comeback sparking interest from several other notable names (former rival Evander Holyfield being one), there is scope for further exhibition bouts in the newly-touted Legends Only League – a move that the Brooklyn-native is fully behind.
“I’m going to go as long as the league is working.” Tyson said.
“I just feel magnificent. I’m going to do this, and I’m going to help a lot of people. And my legend is going to be that I’ve given a lot more than I’ve taken.”
