As Tyson Fury looks to make his third title defence of the WBC belt against Derek Chisora, there are a few familiar faces set to appear on the undercard.
Main event ring walks are expected at 9PM, but there’s plenty of action beforehand.
First up is Daniel Dubois’ (18-1) fight with South-African, Kevin Lerena (28-1). This will be the British heavyweight’s first defence of the WBA Regular title and could well be his biggest test since fighting Joe Joyce.
Lerena has a fantastic record on paper, but much of it is against a lower standard of opposition. However, recently he secured his best win to date, outpointing Mariusz Wach who has gone the distance with the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Dillian Whyte and Hughie Fury.
Meanwhile, Dubois has manoeuvred his way into a strong position with the WBA and will expect a shot at the WBA (Super) World title if he can hold on to his regular title for the next twelve months or so.
Despite losing to Joe Joyce, Dubois has managed to get his career back on track and has a 94% (17 KO’s) knockout ratio in his 18 wins. All of those knockouts have come in the first half of his fights, suggesting it could make for an early finish in the highlight of the undercard.
The Manchester Evening News also revealed that Frenchman Yvan Mendy (47-5-1), who once beat Luke Campbell, will return to the UK and fight unbeaten Ukrainian, Denys Berinchyk (16-0). This will be Mendy’s first defence of the EBU lightweight title, since he won the belt for the second time back in April.
Berinchyk won the silver medal at the 2012 Olympics and has beaten the likes of Jeff Horn and Anthony Yigit in the amateurs but has no standout names on his professional record. In fact, the 34-year-olds most notable win came against former UFC fan favourite, Artem Lobov, in a bare-knuckle fight last year.
22-year-old light-heavyweight prospect, Karol Itauma (8-0), seeks his fifth consecutive knockout victory as he fights Slovakian Vladimir Belujsky (12-5-1), who recently stepped up in weight and fought Jack Cullen this year.
Also featuring are the likes of Hosea Burton (27-3), Isaac Lowe (21-2-3) and highly-rated youngster Royston Barney Smith (3-0), who John Fury compared to Vasily Lomachenko.
The event will be available to purchase on BT Sport Box Office, at the controversial price of £26.95.
