The WBO’s No.1 heavyweight contender Oleksandr Usyk has hinted that he may still step aside to allow a Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight to happen with all four titles on the line.
WBC king Fury and WBA Super, WBO and IBF champion Joshua have agreed to meet in principle in 2021, but the bout’s ‘undisputed’ tag has been under threat with Usyk threatening to enforce his mandatory shot against ‘AJ’.
That would leave Joshua with the option of facing Usyk next or relinquishing his WBO belt in order to meet Fury. But now Usyk has said he would consider stepping aside to allow Fury-Joshua to take place first with the undisputed tag attached.
“All four belts might end up in the same hands of one person. It might be a once in a lifetime opportunity. We should all talk and communicate for that to happen because it is a really big event,” Usyk told The Sun.
“I still want to fight Anthony Joshua for the title. There are many factors for this fight to happen, my team and all the participants and all their interested parties are already working on it. But there are still many people who wish to fight him as well, like Tyson Fury.”
