Undefeated WBO featherweight champion, Oscar Valdez is planning on aiming his crosshairs at ‘The Jackal’ Carl Frampton in the new year according to his manager, Stephen Espinoza.
“Frampton remains one of the best fighters in the division and is always in very good fights. The fight with Garcia was another example of that.”
“It was an exciting back-and-forth fight and anytime he steps into the ring it’s always a big event,” Espinoza said.
I think a fight between Oscar and Frampton would be one of the best fights that can be made in all of boxing in 2018 and it’s something that we certainly want to look at for the upcoming year,” added Espinoza.

Espinoza went into further detail, by stating “Oscar has been a champion for a few fights now. Frampton I’m sure wants to regain a title and it’s a great match-up of styles.”
Valdez claimed the WBO title in July 2016 and has since racked up three defences of that world title. However, Valdez’s team is still looking for a marquee opponent to stamp his mark on the featherweight division.
‘The Jackal’ Carl Frampton undoubtedly fits the bill as he still remains one of the biggest names in the division despite surrendering his WBA title to Leo Santa Cruz in their rematch at the start of the year.

“Regardless, I want to really explore the possibility of a Frampton fight,” said Espinoza. “I think it’s a can’t miss fight for everybody involved,” The Showtime executive shared.
Carl Frampton is coming off of a gruelling ten round battle against Horacio Garcia, in his hometown of Belfast at the SSE Arena.
Frampton had total control over the early goings but was forced into holding off a late onslaught from his Mexican counterpart, in the second half of the bout.
Meanwhile on the other hand, Oscar Valdez was last in the ring in September. On that night, Valdez successfully made the 3rd defence of his WBO welterweight title against Genesis Servania.
