Tony Bellew’s trainer David Coldwell believes that there is a way to beat Andre Ward in a boxing match. The American is regarded as the pound for pound number one fighter in boxing by many. This year Ward beat hard hitter Sergey Kovalev twice and has never been even close to losing during his professional career.
“Say what you want, Ward is getting hit these days and Kovalev was hurting him in there. Ward is fantastic, no doubt, but Bellew can beat him. We know it is a tough fight against one of the most skilful boxers, but we believe he is beatable,” wrote Coldwell on Sky Sports.
The big question surrounding Bellew is will he fight David Haye? Coldwell clarifies the situation.
“Is it[Ward fight] bigger than the Haye fight? If we can get that same money that Tony can get in his other options, then we fight Ward,” he explained.
It was rumoured that Bellew and Haye were close to a deal but apparently fight talks are not moving forward because of the Londoner according to Coldwell.
“The thing about Haye is that when he got beat, he stood in the ring, acting all humble and said: “I’ll just have to hope Bellew will give me a rematch, he had to take short terms and now I will do the same.” We have put that to him, the same deal – ‘there you go’. He is stalling, not us,” said the trainer.
