Lee Selby is fresh from the fourth title defence of his IBF featherweight title against Eduardo Ramirez at London’s Copper Box Arena.
‘The Welsh Mayweather’ won a unanimous decision over 12 rounds in that fight, his mandatory challenger Josh Warrington wasn’t too impressed by that performance, however.
“For me personally, I wasn’t impressed,” the unbeaten Featherweight told the BoxNation Podcast. “He said after the fight he thought it was a decent performance. I’d have gone home and been devastated with that performance.
I see he’s tried to play the victim card now, and make me out to be a villain. But let’s rewind 18 months ago when they were going on about my wedding, and me getting offered the fight then. I got called a ‘coward’, a ‘bottle job’,” Warrington recalled.
“It might just seem like nothing, but that frustrated me a lot. I haven’t forgotten about that. I got slaughtered from their team, I got absolutely slaughtered.”
Warrington, who stopped European Champion Dennis Ceylan on October 21st to set up a mandatory title shot against Selby next year, has called out his rival about his prolonged trash-talking.
“I haven’t been gifted this opportunity, I’ve earned it now. I haven’t forgotten about last year. Don’t disrespect me, don’t disrespect my fans, and pipe down with your arrogance as well!”
