The WBC has some bad news for Amir Khan(31-4).
‘King Khan’ has lost his WBC ranking number one seed due to inactivity. He’s not stepped into ring since his absolutely ruthless and brutal annihilation by Canelo Alvarez in May 2016.

The British boxer has tried to score fights with the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Kell Brook but nothing has come to fruition.
He has also been battling with injuries. After his loss to Canelo he went under the knife due to a hand injury. The WBC gave Khan a certain amount of time to recover but Khan failed to meet the deadline. This left the WBC no other choice than to sweep Khan off the top 15.
“Amir Khan was a mandatory before. Then he fought Canelo. Then he would remain as mandatory, but then he got injured. He has been out of the ring for so long, that inactivity took over,” said WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman in an interview with Boxing News.
Khan has stated that he will make his return this November. He will announce his next opponent after Ramadan.
