The latest instalment of ‘crossover’ boxing from DAZN and Misfits took place in Texas recently, and on fight night, Dillon Danis was announced as KSI’s next opponent. The two will square off at Wembley Arena on 14th January 2023.
Who exactly is Dillon Danis though?
Dillon Danis is a 29 year old American mixed martial arts fighter from New Jersey. He has an MMA record of 2-0 competing in the Bellator series and is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, although he hasn’t fought since June 2019.
Danis is best known for being a sparring partner of UFC legend Conor McGregor. He trained with ‘The Notorious’ for the Nate Diaz rematch and the extraordinary Khabib Nurmagomedov title clash in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
Danis has always been known for causing havoc in the fighting world despite rarely being in a professional contest himself. The best example of this is in the lead up to Nurmagomedov vs McGregor at UFC 229 where Danis accompanied McGregor in attacking Khabib’s team bus whilst the Russian was onboard.
After submitting the Irishman in the third round of their fight, Nurmagomedov instantly jumped the cage and launched into the crowd after Danis. A huge brawl ensued and Khabib was handed a nine month ban for his actions.
As well as KSI, Danis has gone after Jake Paul in the past, too. In December 2020 they had an altercation where Paul pulled up on Danis in the street and threw toilet paper at him while he was doing an interview.
Another altercation the MMA man made headlines for was being taken down and grappled by a bouncer outside of a nightclub for refusing to accept that he wasn’t being allowed in.
Now Danis fights KSI on 14th January at Wembley Arena on DAZN PPV in ‘The Nightmare’s toughest test to date, as he continues his strive for a Jake Paul fight which is the best part of five years in the making – although Paul looks set to face Tommy Fury beforehand.
