Dubbed ‘The Rumble On The Rock’, Dillian Whyte’s eagerly-awaited rematch with Alexander Povetkin will now take place in Gibraltar on a new date of March 27.
The Brixton heavyweight was scheduled to meet Povetkin on March 6, but Covid-19 travel restrictions have meant the contest has been nudged back three weeks.
Whyte is seeking to avenge a shock, fifth-round knockout defeat to the Russian veteran last August, with the venue in Gibraltar to be announced in due course.
Matchroom Sport Managing Director Eddie Hearn said: “In the current environment, we are always having to think on our feet. We did everything to try and make March 6 happen, but with the new travel restrictions it was impossible.
“Now we have something outside the box, compelling, and a unique setting for one of the Heavyweight Fights of the Year – roll on the Rumble on the Rock!”
