WBC Interim heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte will clash with Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin at the O2 Arena in London on October 30.
Th 6ft 5 1/2ins Wallin, who gave Tyson Fury a competitive 12 rounds in September 2019, is a better opponent than previously anticipated for Brixton’s Whyte. The untested Jermaine Franklin and former contender Chris Arreola had both been in the running as potential foes.
The hard-hitting Whyte breathed fresh life into his career when he avenged last year’s shock fifth-round loss to Alexander Povetkin with an emphatic fourth-round victory in March.
IBF No.12 rated contender Wallin has solidified his title claims since the Fury contest (where he sailed close to a stoppage win due to two severe cuts over the Gypsy King’s right eye), stopping Travis Kauffman in five and widely outpointing two-time world title challenger Dominic Breazeale in February.
Whyte-Wallin was first reported by Keith Idec of Boxing Scene.
