Deontay Wilder’s upcoming WBC World heavyweight title defence is still happening on November 4th after Luis Ortiz got replaced by mandatory challenger Bermaine Stiverne.
The Champion isn’t looking past Stiverne but is confident in himself and expects a knockout victory. Should he get the win, then the American heavyweight will officially go after Anthony Joshua.
Wilder threw a bit gasoline into the fire in a recent interview and said that it’s actually Tyson Fury who should be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world – not Joshua.
The Alabama Boxer says it’s Fury who put UK boxing on the map.
“Tyson Fury – if it wasn’t for Tyson Fury, England wouldn’t be on the map like it is, let’s be f****** serious. They quickly forget because Tyson Fury is the type of man that expresses himself and don’t give
They quickly forget because Tyson Fury is the type of man that expresses himself and don’t give a f*** what nobody thinks – and that’s the best man to be. His mouth got him in trouble in that country and they hate the Furys,” said Wilder according to boxingscene.com.
The American thinks that the treatment the Fury’s have been getting publically is nothing short of racism.
“They got something against the Gypsys and all that man, it’s racism at its finest,” commented Wilder.
Joshua launched himself towards boxing heavyweight stardom when he beat Wladimir Klitschko last April. However, Wilder doesn’t give much credit to the Londoner’s victory over the Ukrainian boxing legend.
“This man [Fury] put England on the map. AJ didn’t do that,” he said.
In fact, Wilder thinks Joshua didn’t beat Klitschko at all.
“This man beat Klitschko. AJ didn’t do that. Only thing AJ did was beat a guy that came off a loss and how long was he out? At least a year? But they praise him [Joshua]. They pick and choose,” Wilder summarised.
