Luis Ortiz and Deontay Wilder were originally scheduled to face off in November. However, Ortiz was believed to have failed the VADA testing due to the usage of a prohibited substance.
The WBA imposed a year-long ban on Ortiz however, the WBC deemed the botched down was down to blood pressure medication and nothing else.
Ortiz and Wilder came face-to-face at Ortiz’s return to the ring earlier this month. Ortiz stopped Daniel Martz inside of two rounds in Miami, Florida on that occasion.

Touching on his potential opponents’ repeated failed tests, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ said “I’m staying on top of him as far as the drug testing. I hope he’s not dumb enough to make the same mistake again.”
Discussing the Cuban returning to the ring with an emphatic knockout, Wilder shared “I didn’t see anything new, but I still think he’s one of the best in the world. He showed he’s back, and I’m glad he’s back.”
“I want to give him another chance to make this fight.”
“I don’t want no excuses when I beat him. So, I asked Ortiz when he wanted to fight, and he said he’s ready now.”

So I’m definitely going to pursue this fight, trying to get him to sign and be in the ring,” Wilder said to Premier Boxing Champions.
Offering his prediction on how the match-up between him and Ortiz pans out, Wilder offered an emphatic retort.
“I think I’ll get him in four rounds,” Wilder concluded.
