Adam Azim Imitates Prince Naseem Hamed With Latest Knockout

Adam Azim is one of the rising stars in the United Kingdom’s domestic scene.

The super-lightweight was impressive once again this weekend and was quick to compare his knockout with a similar one from a British boxing legend.

The 20-year-old moved to 7-0 (6 KO’s) when he defeated Rylan Charlton by second round knockout. Charlton was supposed to be the man to test Azim’s chin, having beaten Joe Laws in the past and caused problems for the likes of Florian Marku.

Azim had the added pressure of headlining his first card live on Sky Sports, but the youngster was unfazed and passed this test with flying colours.

Charlton, as he did against Laws and Marku, started fast and tried to put the pressure onto Azim. However, the favourite was there to meet the underdog in the middle of the ring and it was him who landed the cleaner shots, scoring two knockdowns in the first round.

The brave Charlton battled on but it wasn’t long before the towel came in during the second round after being dropped for a third time.

In an interview with Sky Sports after the fight, Azim drew similarities between his knockout and one that he had seen from Prince Naseem Hamed. The unified featherweight champion stopped Sunderland’s Billy Hardy in the first round of their 1997 bout, landing a similar shot which sent his opponent straight to the canvas.

“It’s funny because I was watching the Prince Naseem highlights and one of the shots was exactly the same one [as Azim’s recent knockout]. So I might put it on my TikTok later on, a comparison between both of them and combine them, which one was better?”

If Azim can achieve half of what Prince Naseem achieved, then many will consider his career a booming success.

The man himself is not short of ambition and has publicly stated his wishes to become the world champion faster than his idol Amir Khan did, a goal which Khan believes Azim will achieve.
