Oh how the mighty have fallen!
Chris Eubank Jnr fails in his quest for world boxing honours. In a very British way, this is what the majority were saying after juniors unanimous loss at the hands of George Groves in a packed M.E.N Arena, Manchester.
Most were saying far worse I’m afraid, rather undeserving, but if you live by the sword…
Firstly I must say, Well done to George Groves who showed what I already knew, he is a professional at the top of his game, who fought the right fight, boxed to a plan and stuck to it through thick and thin and pulled off a great win.
A superb victory for @StGeorgeGroves over @ChrisEubankJr takes him through to the @WBSuperSeries final! 🥊 #WBSSpic.twitter.com/ExnefzcQ6E

Those of you so quick to call for Eubank to retire might just remember the same Groves sprawled at the feet of Carl Froch only a few years ago, having been smashed to defeat in eight rounds in there return encounter.
Groves however picked himself up, went back to the drawing board worked hard, made adjustments, and now is the top man in a talent-packed division.
Eubank can do the same, and he will, he may have lost this fight, but he will win the war, because the attributes he showed well outweigh the failings, in what was a courageous showing at the hands of a naturally bigger and more experienced and better-schooled opponent.
Appreciate everyone that came out to support last night #NEXTGENpic.twitter.com/logHhGPD57

His biggest attribute and the most important part of a warriors DNA is heart and Eubank’s was never in doubt. To the very end of a hard-fought contest he battled hard in an enthralling fight. His failings, however, were there for all to see, and the blame rests squarely on his shoulders for trying to be a maverick in the toughest of sports. You can not do it all by yourself even if your name’s Eubank.
There’s a reason that in the corner of the best fighters in the world there usually stands a damn good trainer because that often is the difference at the very highest level.
Was a hell of fight & I’ll be back in the ring asap. Congratulations to Groves #NEXTGENpic.twitter.com/TvKUl64JmX

That was the difference here as Eubank struggled with a plan A never mind B or C.
Chris Eubank Jnr has what it takes to be a world champion, but a bit of simple advice would be: get the best trainer you can find, best conditioning coach, best cutman, and get your hands wrapped by a professional.
If there’s a Team Eubank then there well might well be a Next Generation……Convincing the last generation might be the hard part however.
