Rising star Jared Anderson has praised Tyson Fury, pointing out a specific asset that isn’t his size, strength, or skill.
The WBC Champion is undefeated and currently in his second stint as heavyweight ruler. His latest outing against Derek Chisora showed, if nothing else, that Fury is levels above many of his fellow fighters.
Anderson is a prospect that many people are placing their bets on to become world champ one day.
Thirteen knockouts from the same number of fights speak for themselves, and he’s been invited into the Fury camp for sparring on more than one occasion.
After joking that the hardest part about being in the ring with Fury was being in the ring with him, Anderson went on to praise one of ‘The Gypsy King’s skills in particular to FightHype.
“It’s a mental thing for him. He can take a lot of people out their game mentally, so I think that’s his biggest asset.”
Fury has long said he’s the king of mind games, and claimed recently that he knew he had the beating of Deontay Wilder in their third fight when the American turned up to the press conference with headphones on and didn’t say a word.
Anderson may also be referring to the sheer size and power of Fury and the effect it has on opponents. As the biggest heavyweight on the scene, many fighters have struggled with game plans and will when they’re toe to toe with him.
The big man from Morecambe is heading towards a history making fight with Ukrainian, Oleksandr Usyk. As the division’s two belt holders, Fury and Usyk facing off will determine an undisputed champion for the first time in decades.
The bout is pencilled in for early 2023, with March 4 in the Middle East touted as a potential.
