Deontay Wilder demands Anthony Joshua fight although he has also been offered £2.35 million to take on fellow Londoner Dillian Whyte.
WBC Heavyweight Champion, Deontay Wilder wants the opportunity to unify the division by taking on lineal champion Anthony Joshua.
Joshua currently holds the IBF and WBA heavyweight belts and is widely expected to take on Wladimir Klitschko in a rematch of their dramatic first bout. Should he win the second clash, plans are underfoot to match
Should he win the second clash, plans are underfoot to match Joshua against Wilder. His promoter Eddie Hearn is apparently eager for Joshua to become the undisputed unified heavyweight champion ahead of an all-British matchup with Tyson Fury.
Unfortunately, before a potential unification bout with Wilder can take place, Joshua will likely first have to face mandatory challenger to his IBF strap Kubrat Pulev.
With Joshua potentially tied up in a mandatory fight, Hearn has attempted to set up a matchup between fellow British heavyweight Dillian Whyte and Wilder.
The head of Matchroom Boxing has been working hard behind the scenes to secure Whyte the opportunity, by tabling Wilder and offer in excess of £2 million.
Wilder is not happy with the offer and feels Hearn has gone back on his word. Taking to Instagram Wilder had this to say:
Clearly Wilder doesn’t want to settle for second best!
