A fighter who has shared plenty of rounds of sparring with Anthony Joshua has predicted how long the former champion will remain in boxing.
Joshua has been hugely active in the last 12 months with four fights that have seen him get back to winning ways and full of confidence.
The rebuilding mission following back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022 which saw him lose his WBO, WBA and IBF belts has been a successful one starting with a points win over Jermiane Franklin last April.
That was followed by three increasingly destructive knockouts of Robert Helens in August, Otto Wallin in December and most recently former MMA champion Francis Ngannou in March.
One of Joshua’s sparring partners for those camps, Jeamie TK, has been speaking to Boxing News about the experience.
“It was great. Do you know what, I enjoyed camp with him. It was fun. We had a good time in sparring. Some of my best fun spars. I just really enjoyed the spar, he enjoyed it too. I came in the last two weeks of camp, and did a lot of sparring with him. AJ was sharp and strong. It was fun.”
He was then asked if Joshua was getting back to being in the ring with bad intentions.
“I don’t think AJ was scared before. The difference is he’s very confident. He believes in what Ben [Davison] and Lee Wylie are teaching him. That’s what gives him the confidence to do what he’s doing. I just feel like AJ’s gunna be a three-time world champion and the way he’s moving he’s added three maybe five years to his career.”
Right now he is awaiting to see the outcome of the undisputed title fight between Tyson Fury and Usyk on May 18 as it is thought he could get a shot at the winner, or else take on Filip Hrgovic for the IBF belt that will come free after that contest is decided.
