Light heavyweight challenger Anthony Yarde has revealed that he has made a major decision on his career ahead of the proposed fight with fellow Brit Joshua Buatsi.
Yarde has twice stepped up to the very top level and taken on fearsome world titlists in an attempt to lift a belt of his own. First was against Sergey Kovalev in Russia, and he was close at one point to winning but the champion rallied and ended up stopping Yarde.
His second shot came on home soil when he took on the fearsome Artur Beterbiev, with Yarde again performing well but in the end it was Beterbiev who retained his 100% knockout record by stopping his opponent in the mid to late rounds.
For some time, a fight with former Olympian and fellow light heavyweight Buatsi has been talked about and more recently in negotiations but as yet nothing has been confirmed.
It has now been revealed in a new post on X by Yarde’s long time trainer Tunde Ajayi, that Yarde has been freed up promotionally so is now able to make this fight.
“I had to pull over in my car for this one. So right now my previous promotional contract has expired. My team are doing the best job for me back end, whilst that is sorted, me and you can start negotiations for the fight, to put on the fight for ourselves, and the fans. It’s exciting times.”
Buatsi had released his own video beforehand and says that everything is in place for a huge showdown in a new message posted on X.
“Yarde, what’s going on man? Look, we’ve got a sick venue, a stadium, a date, what’s the delay, what’s happening? I’m out here working man, let’s go, let’s make it happen.”
Last time out, Buatsi took a 12-round points victory over his long-time sparring partner Dan Azeez to set up this mouth-watering clash.
