Tyson Fury reportedly banked around $50 million for his showdown with Francis Ngannou and is set to net over $100 million for this weekend’s historic battle with Oleksandr Usyk. However, in addition to the monumental purses that ‘The Gypsy King’ has collected over the years, it is his social media accounts that are perhaps more impressive, making a staggering amount compared to his closest rival.
Fury’s relationship with social media has been a confusing one to say the least, often abstaining from posting during his training camps but also utilizing his various platforms to call out his heavyweight rivals over the years.
Ahead of what is arguably his biggest test to date, Fury has only posted training footage and promos for the Usyk contest, possibly indicating that his accounts have been handed over to a member of his team due to a lack of opinionated posts.
In his defence, it would make little sense to perform a complete social media blackout, especially when considering the huge figures that he earns with each post, according to research from experts, earning 47 times as much per Instagram post as his domestic rival Anthony Joshua.
Rank | Athlete | Estimated TikTok Earnings | Estimated Instagram earnings | Total earnings |
1 | Tyson Fury | £666 | £4,696 | £5,362 |
2 | Anthony Joshua | £970 | £99 | £1,069 |
“Ranking first is the WBC champion Tyson Fury, who looks to become the Undisputed World Champion against Oleksandr Usyk next week. This historic event will be the first time boxing has seen an undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis beat Evander Holyfield in 1999.
Tyson Fury has shown his suitability as a media personality with his successful appearances on big-time talk shows, WWE, and the very successful NETFLIX documentary, ‘At Home With Furys, which was nominated for an award for the UK’s highest-rated television show on NETFLIX after 2.6M viewers saw its first episode.
Anthony Joshua is ranked top, receiving just under £1,000 (£970) per post on TikTok and just under £99 on Instagram, for a total of £1,069. The former WBO, IBF, and WBA champion is on his latest comeback trail and looking to become a three-weight world champion, with rumours of his next fight soon to be announced.”
However, in terms of British athletes as a whole, Fury still has work to do if he is to climb the rankings, with Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton earning an obscene figure of almost £42,000 per Instagram post.
The top ten highest-paid athletes on Instagram:
Rank | Athlete | Sport | Estimated Instagram Earnings Per Post |
1 | Lewis Hamilton | Formula One | £41,947 |

3 | Lando Norris | Formula One | £12,019 |

Tyson Fury’s superstardom is sure to rise even further if he gets the job done on Saturday night and becomes the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the century and the first in the history of the four-belt era.
