Martin Bakole’s Trainer Slams Heavyweight Contenders: “It’s Embarrassing – You’re Avoiding Him”

There has rarely been as much chat about the goings on in the heavyweight division as there is now, but the trainer of contender Martin Bakole believes that many of his rivals are ‘avoiding him’ and says that ‘it’s embarrassing.’

Bakole has long been chasing big fights with big names but has often struggled on account of posing them plenty of problems for little reward.

The Congolese fighter is currently the WBA number 1 ranked boxer and is coming off a knockout win over Carlos Takam on the undercard of Tyson Fury versus Francis Ngannou.

Speaking to Boxing Social, Billy Nelson expressed his frustration at the likes of Joseph Parker, Anthony Joshua, Agit Kabayel and Daniel Dubois knocking back offers to fight.

“Three of those four have been offered the fight and said no. He’s the most avoided heavyweight on the planet and it’s embarrassing. It’s embarrassing the number of people who have been offered a fight with Martin and said no.”

He went on to address people who say Bakole should avenge his loss to Michael Hunter.

“Everybody talks about fighting Hunter, get the rematch with Hunter, why would we with our number 1 rank with the WBA fight someone who is unranked. Of course, we want to make the wrong a right but why would we do that when he goes and beats Hunter and doesn’t improve his position?”

He then laid out what he really wants to happen.

“What Martin needs is a final eliminator, regular title or interim title, he’s needs something that will push him forward.”

Nelson has always backed his man and recently spoke of the one man who he thinks might be able to beat him.
