Conor Benn is looking to get back to his active best in 2024 but his first opponent of the year has called to be given ‘a full training camp’ and a rematch.
Been has fought just twice in around two years owing to the ongoing saga around his failed drug tests ahead of his ill-fated contest with Chris Eubank Jr in October 2023.
Most recently he took on Pete Dobson out for his Las Vegas debut on February 3rd. The fight went the full 12 rounds – the first time Benn has gone the championship distance – and was an entertaining back and forth which saw Benn run out a wide points winner.
Now ‘Pistol Pete’ has spoken to Tru School Sports and was asked if his preparation could have been better.
“Definitely man, you know, I work 9 to 5 at Overthrow Boxing Gym, at most of the boxing gyms in New York, as a coach. I’m not making any excuses, man, I’m going to come back better next time.
“I want a rematch with a 10-week camp but I doubt they will do it cause they got a lot of money riding on the big fights. I’m just happy for the opportunity man.”
Next up for Benn is a hearing he has long since wanted with the British Boxing Board of Control in order to try and get his British license back.
In the wake of his latest win, he also put out an ambitious five-man hit list with Gervonta Davis seemingly the one that is now in negotiations for later in the year.
