The winner of next month’s undisputed fight between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford will almost certainly go down as the best welterweight of this generation and place their name amongst some of the very finest 147lbers the sport has ever seen.
In a recently published list, the great Sugar Ray Leonard was ranked as the greatest welterweight of all time – much to the dismay of a certain Floyd Mayweather.
And in an interview with K.O. Artists Sports, Leonard revealed he was backing Crawford to get the best of Spence and emerge with all four world titles.
“Crawford to win, but I like Spence too. May the best man win!”
The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will play host to the historic clash on July 29th, which is potentially the most eagerly anticipated match up in recent years.
With both Spence and Crawford having entered their mid thirties, fans across the world were losing hope that the undisputed fight would ever take place, especially given the promotional barriers that have always seemed to divide the two
However, after years of wasted negotiations and public back and forth, terms were finally agreed for the two pound for pound stars to lock horns for the greatest prize of all
The pair have never tasted defeat between them and boast plenty of stoppage victories to boot, so fight fans are surely are in for a night to remember in Las Vegas.
Though bookmakers have Crawford a marginal favourite at the time of writing, the contest could swing either way.
