Caleb Plant made the headlines recently for striking Jermall Charlo behind the scenes during Errol Spence Jr-Terence Crawford fight week.
The video spread on social media quickly, long enough for fans to see the blow but short enough to leave questions as to what led Plant to that point.
He has now taken to social media to give his side of the story, and says that Charlo forced his hand by antagonising him.
“It was just me and old buddy. I mean a man’s got a right to defend himself. A grown man touch another grown man in his face, pulling on his beard real hard. I got the decency to tell you not to do that again, I don’t spazz on your right there.”
“You know the only thing you can reply with is how I’m a b***h ass white boy and look at me getting all shook just like a b***h ass white boy would. Look at him y’all acting like a b***h.”
“You immediately grab my face again even harder after I just asked you not to do that no more. I got my wife standing right behind me and I’m in a room full of my peers. What do you do? You making it real hard on a guy.”
Caleb Plant went live on Instagram to explain why he smacked Jermall Charlo a few days ago

WBC middleweight champion, Charlo, has been inactive for two years now. His last outing was a successful defence against Juan Macias Montiel over twelve.
Former IBF super-middleweight champ, Plant, bounced back from a loss to Saul ‘Canelo’ Γlvarez in 2021 by knocking out Anthony Dirrell last year. He came up short this year to undefeated David Benavidez.
Just one division apart, a potential fight between Charlo and Plant is a possibility for the future, however the former must get active first.
