The venue for the biggest middleweight fight of the year has been officially announced. Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will go toe to toe at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Promoter Oscar De La Hoya initially revealed plans of possibly organising the fight in Los Angeles, Texas or New York. But it was then decided that the super fight will go down in the fight capital of the world.
The fight between Canelo and Golovkin on 16th of September was immediately announced after Alvarez’s beatdown over Julio Cesar Chavez Junior back in May.
Golovkin will put his WBC, WBA, IBF and IBO titles on the line against the Mexican. With a win the Kazakh could truly become one of the biggest names ever in boxing. Meanwhile Canelo will to try to prove his doubters wrong and go up in weight and face the stiffest challenge of his career since Floyd Mayweather.
