Saul Alvarez is not mincing his words ahead of his rematch against Gennadiy Golovkin later this month.
The pair will meet in a trilogy clash on September 17 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Alvarez, who lost his last fight against WBA world light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol back in May, steps back down to super-middleweight to defend the IBF, WBA Super, WBC and WBO titles against the current IBO, IBF and WBA Super world middleweight champion from Kazakhstan.
Their third fight comes four years since ‘Canelo’ won a majority decision victory in the second fight – and the Mexican is planning on it being the last fight of the big puncher’s career.
Speaking to Forbes, Alvarez revealed his plan to force the 40-year-old – whose only career defeat came against him – into retirement with a dominant win.
“That’s my goal. That’s my goal for this fight. No disrespect for him.
“He’s a great fighter. He’s one of the best middleweights in boxing history. But that’s what I train for.
“My goal is to end his career, his great career.”
The results of the first two fights between the pair ended contentiously, with a split draw in the first one and a majority decision win for Alvarez in the second.
Teddy Atlas, who has been a big fan of Golovkin and has even worked in his camps previously, said recently that he faces an uphill struggle to finally get a win over Alvarez, stating that it’s not only ‘Canelo’ he has to beat to get the victory.
