Carl Froch and Tony Bellew have been asked on a podcast about who they would rather fight between light heavyweight stars Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.
These two unbeaten champions come up against one another on June 1 in an undisputed light heavyweight showdown in Saudi Arabia that will see the skills and technical abilities of Bivol come up against the hard-punching knockout artist Beterbiev.
The pair were asked the question on ‘The Cobra’s’ own Froch on Fighting show and Bellew answered first.
“Bivol, all day, Bivol. Who would you rather have fought?”
Froch went the other way.
“I think Bivol is too hard to beat. I’d rather stand in front of Beterbiev and have a fight because he gets hit and I’ve got a chance with someone I can hit. I just don’t think I can hit Bivol. Bivol is smart isn’t he. He’s fast, he smart, he moves.
But I like fighting boxers as long as I’m at my right weight. Stylistically Beterbiev sets traps and you only have to come through one the wrong way and you get flattened, you’re out liek a light. He’s the strongest punching light heavyweight since Adonis Stevenson and we all know how I faced up when I came up with that fucker.
Froch then jumps in to reveal a fight he was being set up for.
“You know Eddie Hearn wanted to chuck me in with Adonis Stevenson after I beat [Luicen] Bute? What do you reckon to that one?”
Bellew responded.
“Yes, very smart sidesteps if ever I’ve seen one. Very clever, nothing soft about that.”
Froch then gave praise to his old coach for encouraging him to swerve that one.
When we talk abbot Rob McCracken and the way he steers them, that was a move, let’s be honest. Not that I was worried about jumping in with any man.”
Bellow joined in with the praise for McCracken.
“Rob McCracken is the most underrated coach in the country. People don’t give him credit he’s due. He’s the most decorated Olympic coach ever. He’s created numerous world champions from scratch, you, Anthony Joshua. I rate him so much.”
Bivol and Beterbiev will face off live on DAZN on June 1 and the undercard features the Matchroom versus Queensberry 5 on 5 event with fights like Daniel Dubois versus Fillip Hrgovic and Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang.
