Charles Martin will not retire following his sixth round stoppage defeat to Luis Ortiz, says the American heavyweight’s manager Mike Borao.
Former IBF heavyweight champion Martin knocked down Ortiz twice before the Cuban rallied and halted his American counterpart in the sixth session in Hollywood, Florida at the weekend.
According to Borao, plenty of lucrative options still exist, including Deontay Wilder, Andy Ruiz and Derek Chisora.
“Retirement is not a consideration,” Martin’s manager Mike Borao told Sky Sports. “Charles was winning the fight comfortably and got caught with a perfect punch. As history shows, it can happen to anyone.”
“There are plenty of options available to Charles that can reverse the trajectory of his career overnight – Deontay Wilder, Andy Ruiz Jr, Joseph Parker, Derek Chisora or perhaps a rematch with Adam Kownacki.”
