Any rumours of a fight happening between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr are “wild speculation” according to Kalle Sauerland.
Since January 2021 Sauerland has promoted Eubank Jr and the 32-year-old has won three from three against Marcus Morrison, Wanik Awdijan and last time out against Liam Williams.
The 32-year-old Middleweight has been linked to a fight against former WBO Super Welterweight champion Liam Smith. The Liverpudlian, just like Eubank Jr, will now fight on Sky Sports after Smith signed a promotional agreement with Boxxer last week.
Last week during the Dereck Chisora-Kubrat Pulev fight week Talksport revealed that ‘talks were underway’ for Benn and Eubank Jr to continue the rivalry set by their fathers in the 1990s.
Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn quashed the rumours telling Social’s Ayman Khan,
“It’s not one of the fights we’re closing in on.”
But one member of the media refused to be put off. During an appearance on Talksport a few days ago combat sports journalist Gareth A. Davies said:
“This fight is quite a long way down the line of happening and will hopefully happen in the autumn of this year.”
“I’m happy to say that this fight is going ahead.”
Today Boxing Social reached out to Sauerland for a comment on the Benn-Eubank Jr situation.
“Wild speculation.”
“We are discussing two fights and Eubank v Benn of course is huge but not currently in discussions I am involved in.”
As for Benn’s future a big fight is apparently being lined up for the undefeated Welterweight this autumn and the main target is former WBA Welterweight champion Keith Thurman.
