Conor Benn has reacted to Chris Eubank Jr’s stunning stoppage over Liam Smith in Manchester.
Unlike their first fight, Eubank went into the rematch as the underdog, but silenced his doubters with a near punch perfect display.
The Brighton man looked sharp from the opening bell with his jab seemingly unable to miss the target. In the fourth round he dropped Smith with a perfectly timed uppercut which flew the gum shield out of his opponent’s mouth. Smith survived the round but the pattern of the fight continued.
Eubank floored his man again in the tenth and, although Smith showed bravery in getting to his feet, the fight was soon waved off by the referee.
Conor Benn was of course scheduled to face Eubank last October, but the fight got pulled just days out after VADA reported adverse findings in two of Benn’s test results.
‘The Destroyer’ was in attendance at ringside and told NoSmokeSport that he wasn’t impressed with Eubank’s performance and he would have no problem facing him before the end of the year.
“He [Liam Smith] didn’t look himself, but credit to him [Eubank], he won the fight but I wasn’t that impressed. He stuck to the game plan, threw his shots, tied him up and that was it.
We can do that fight next no problem, we can do that next. If the public want it as I said I’ll come up to 160 no problem. 147, 154, 160, no problem, I’ll come up – not a problem to me. It’ll be curtains for him in 4 rounds. 100% I’d fight him before the end of the year.”

After the fight Eubank made it clear he only wants the biggest nights now and proceeded to call out Benn, Kell Brook and Gennady Golovkin.
