Conor Benn continues to battle to get a big-name opponent into the ring with him and after the latest negotiations broke down he has had a dating verdict for Gervonta Davis.
Benn is coming off the back of a 12-round points win over Pete Dobson out in Las Vegas. It was his debut in Sin City and only his second fight in two years following issues with two failed drug tests in October 2022 ahead of his ill-fated fight with Chris Eubank Jr.
Since then he has not had a licence to fight in the UK so had had to pursue his career Stateside. This month he had a hearing with the British Boxing Board of Control which he hopes will grant him a licence to fight in his homeland once more.
While that has been going on he has been calling out plenty of American fighters, and following his posting of a five-man hit list at the start of February, one man replied and was seemingly happy to take up the challenge.
That was the lightweight champion Gervonta Davis. The pair exchanged plenty of heated words and Conor Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn sent a fight offer which Davis has now reportedly not been willing to sign.
Benn wasn’t happy to hear this news and posted as such in his Instagram story, as reposted on X.
“🐱 Don’t ever @ me ever again.”
It looks as though Conor Benn will now pursue a fight with former welterweight champion Danny Garcia.
