Daniel Dubois has the biggest fight of his life coming up, but has still found time to share his prediction should Anthony Joshua fight Deontay Wilder.
This fight has been in discussion for much of this year, and in fact as far back as 2016 when both heavyweights were world champions.
A lot has happened since then, including both men taking gruelling back-to-back losses against current world champions and two pound-for-pound greats.
Wilder’s came at the hands of WBC belt holder Tyson Fury, and Joshua was bested by WBA, WBO and IBF king, Oleksandr Usyk.
As they have looked to rebuild in the wake of those defeats, both men have forged relationships with new coaches, and both have knocked out Robert Helenius.
Wilder did it in one round, Joshua took seven – though not everyone was impressed. Either way, the scene is now very much set for them to come to blows at the start of next year in Saudi Arabia should a deal be finalised.
Speaking to Boxing News ahead of that, Dubois was asked how it might play out.
“Right now, based off their past performances, you’d say Wilder, but styles make fights in boxing. We’ll see, let the best man win.”
The boxing world will be hoping we will indeed see this super fight before too long.
Meanwhile, British contender Dubois is next in the ring against Usyk on August 26 in Poland and has vowed to shock the world.
It will be his first tilt at a legitimate world title and marks a fantastic comeback for the big-hitting 25-year-old since his loss to Joe Joyce back in November 2020.
