Having been in the corner while his man Daniel Dubois fought Oleksandr Usyk last year, Don Charles is well placed to give his view on the upcoming undisputed fight with Tyson Fury.
Fury’s stock has somewhat fallen since battering Deontay Wilder across a thrilling trilogy that ended in 2022. His next fights saw him knock out Dillian Whyte with relative ease and beat Derek Chisora for a third time.
Most recently he took on the former UFC champion turned boxing novice Francis Ngannou in what many thought would be an easy ten-rounder.
But that’s not how it transpired, with Ngannou knocking Fury down in the third and pushing him hard all the way, though ultimately he lost on the cards. Because of that, people worry he may be in decline.
But not Charles, who has given his verdict to talkSPORT Boxing and thinks it will be easy for Fury.
“From day one, this Fury who has gone silent, he’s gone away to train, he’s taking it serious, right. Forgive me if I get this wrong, I don’t think it will be a hard fight for Fury. He will maul him. He’s too big for Usyk, he’ll hit him hold him, tie him up.”
He then explained what he sees as Usyk’s only chance of victory.
“The only way for Usyk to win is to go relentless for 12 rounds, zip-zip, in and out, don’t stay stationary for 12 rounds.”
