Danny Garcia is fresh from making a successful return to the ring, following surrendering his WBC welterweight title to Keith Thurman in his last performance.
The former 2-weight world champion, locked horns with the rugged and seasoned Brandon Rios at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
That bout was a final eliminator bout for a chance to be confirmed as the mandatory challenger to the WBC world welterweight title. Garcia has now done all he can to earn his way into a rematch opportunity against Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman.

Garcia looked focused and his technique was crisp against a flailing Rios who appears to have reached the end of the road.
Garcia claimed victory by way of a knockout in the ninth round of their encounter.
Evaluating his performance, Garcia shared”I felt the ring rust a little bit in the beginning.”
“He’s a good inside fighter and he was giving me some good uppercuts. I felt good, it was a good nine rounds,” Garcia added.
“He came to fight. I came to box, I did that. I came to bang, and I gave the fans what they wanted – a knockout.”

“I just noticed when I was getting my punches off he was standing right in front of me and I just let it go.”
“As soon as I got the fight in the middle of the ring where I wanted I landed good shots. I was just letting my hands go and the punch landed.”
Moving forwards, Garcia is intending on securing a rematch with the unified WBA and WBC welterweight title-holder Keith Thurman. Garcia shares the ball is firmly in the champions court too.
“The loss was tough. I have the mindset of a winner,” Garcia said.
