The long-awaited rematch between bitter rivals Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall appears to finally have a date and location locked in.
Taylor and Catterall met back in February 2022 in Glasgow, with Taylor earning a controversial split decision win to retain his undisputed super-lightweight titles.
Due to the nature of the controversy, fans clamoured for an immediate rematch, but it didn’t materialise, despite the constant bad blood that remains between the pair on social media.
Now over two years on, it looks like the rematch will finally happen, with ESPN reporting that it is scheduled to take place on April 27 in Leeds, live on DAZN.
Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall have agreed to an April 27 rematch in Leeds, England, sources tell ESPN.
In February 2022, Josh Taylor retained his undisputed junior welterweight championship with a controversial decision over Catterall. Now they’ll fight one more time.
The Josh Taylor-Jack Catterall rematch will be contested at 140 pounds, sources tell ESPN, and will be streamed on DAZN worldwide as part of the subscription streaming service. Long-awaited grudge match is on.
Both men have been fairly inactive since their first bout in February 2022, with Taylor not fighting again until June last year, where he took on Teofimo Lopez.
Only the WBO title was on the line as Taylor’s IBF, WBC and WBA were either vacated or stripped, and the Scotsman lost his sole remaining world title after Lopez claimed a unanimous points verdict.
Catterall meanwhile has fought twice since the bout with Taylor, earning a unanimous decision win over Darragh Foley in May, before following that up with another points win in October, this time over Jorge Linares.
Official confirmation for the highly-anticipated rematch is expected soon, and it looks set to be a fiery build-up between the two men.
