Deontay Wilder wants Anthony Joshua to win his next fight against Otto Wallin and win it well.
The American knockout artist fights on the same card against Joseph Parker. Should both he and Joshua win, an over-marinated fight of their own will be set up nicely.
There have been questions about ‘AJ’s desire in the sport following back-to-back losses from Oleksandr Usyk – or perhaps even earlier in his career – where he is often questions about his grit and aggression.
The young fighter who searched for stoppages no matter what came his way looks to be a thing of the past in favour of a more considered boxer’s approach.
Speaking on The Last Stand, Wilder said he wants to see a knockout from his transatlantic rival, but warned him not to think ahead to their own plans should they both win.
“I definitely believe he’s gonna beat Otto Wallin. I’m looking forward to him knocking him out to be honest. I can see that happening, but it’s gonna be up to Joshua to do what he gotta do. I don’t want him to think about me and him, you know what’s to come, cause that could be a distraction.
Stay focused on Otto Wallin, because he’s gonna come and fight. Just like Joseph Parker is gonna come and fight. We’re all gladiators, we’re all warriors.”
By all accounts, the plan is to finally match the two hard-hitting former champions should they win on December 23, with that card being a trailer of sorts of what’s to come.
